Step outside into a green botanical paradise, and take the walk along the many trails that crisscross around the grounds. The gardens are every bit as glorious as the interiors of the hotel. Fresco ceilings dance above your head, mosaic artwork adorns the walls and the furniture is upholstered in golden zebra-hide luxury and opulence oozes out of every corner of this African inspired hotel. The Palace is worthy of its name as details fit for royalty are etched and thought out in every feature and piece of decor. Its design is inspired by a mythical African kingdom, lost, and now a legend. It was very expensive for such a terrible stay.Built in 1992 at the Sun City Resort, The Palace of the Lost City was envisioned as a grand dream turned reality. The Cascades kills the Palace in everything from what i saw this weekend. I cannot believe they put people up in rooms that require alot of work maybe its because we got upgraded. I did take a video to show friends and family how bad the palace has turned. The hot water didnt work ( we had to run multipe taps to get hot water ) the basin took forever to drain, the verander door lock didnt close properly and had a temp lock on there ( badly pop riveted ) the where knobs hanging half on and worst of all the toilet leaked every time we flushed. As the porter escorts you down the corridors to your family room all you smell is non treated green ponds along the way :( The room at first looks ok, nice ground unit but the place was falling apart. Apon arrival the staff are super friendly and you do feel special the way they treat you. This year the Cascades was under renovation and the upgraded us to The Palace super excited as we've stayed there before and it was a real treat. We book our yearly holiday to the Cascades ( Superior Family Deluxe Room ).
